The Estimate Company

The Supplemental Estimating Company Roofing Contractors Trust

Not all supplement companies are the same. Most use junior estimators following a checklist. We use former licensed insurance adjusters who know how carriers think — because we used to be them. That difference shows up in every payout.

What Makes a Great Supplemental Estimating Company

The roofing supplement industry has grown fast — and so has the number of companies promising to maximize your insurance payouts. But most of them have the same playbook: hire cheap estimators, run carrier estimates through a checklist, and submit the same ten line items on every job. It works sometimes. It leaves a lot of money on the table, always.

A genuinely great supplemental estimating company does three things differently: it employs people with adjuster credentials (not just Xactimate training), it knows carrier-specific tendencies across dozens of insurers, and it stays with the claim through carrier follow-up and approval — not just through submission.

Adjuster Credentials — Not Just Estimators

The difference between an estimator and a licensed adjuster is the difference between knowing what to write and knowing what carriers are legally required to pay. We're the latter.

Carrier-Specific Knowledge

State Farm pushes back differently than Allstate. Travelers has different documentation requirements than USAA. We've worked with 50+ carriers and know exactly how to frame supplements for each one.

Full-Cycle Involvement

We don't just write and submit. We follow up 2–3 times per week until the supplement is approved and you're paid. Most supplement companies drop off after submission.

Performance-Based Pricing

We charge 15% of what we actually recover beyond the carrier's original estimate. If we don't recover more than you'd get without us, you pay nothing. Period.

The Estimate Company — What Sets Us Apart

How to Evaluate a Supplemental Estimating Company

Before you partner with any supplemental estimating company, ask these questions:

Q: Are your writers licensed insurance adjusters?

A: Most supplement companies use estimators with Xactimate training. There's a significant difference between knowing the software and knowing what carriers are required to pay under a policy. Ask for credentials.

Q: How many carriers have you worked with?

A: Carrier tendencies vary. A company that has only worked with 5–10 carriers will miss nuances that cost you money on others. Look for 20+ carriers minimum.

Q: What's your follow-up process after submission?

A: Submitting a supplement is the start, not the finish. Carriers routinely slow-walk approvals hoping contractors give up. Ask how often they follow up and who handles it.

Q: Do you charge upfront or on contingency?

A: Upfront-fee supplement companies have no incentive to maximize your recovery. Contingency-based companies only get paid when you get paid — which means they're motivated to fight for every dollar.

Q: Can I see sample supplements you've written?

A: A professional supplement company should be able to share sanitized examples of completed supplements. If they can't or won't, that tells you something.
